Communion Meditation in His Presence

A moment to pause, reflect, and draw nearer to the heart of Christ.

Man praying in empty chapel.

Approaching the Throne of Grace

As we gather around the Lord's Table, we are reminded of the profound assurance offered to us in the book of Hebrews: that we may approach the throne of grace with confidence, trusting that we will receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. This boldness is not our own doing-it is a gift purchased for us by Jesus Christ, who, through his death, resurrection, and ascension, has forever linked us to God in a bond that cannot be broken.

The Breaking of the Bread: Remembering His Sacrifice

For this reason, bread and the cup are taken every Sunday. The bread, sacred yet straightforward, reminds us of the battered and broken body of our Lord and Savior, Jesus, the one who is forever our Christ: crucified, dead, buried, resurrected, ascended, ever interceding, and one day, coming again. As we break the bread, we remember his sacrifice and the unity we share because of him. Let us eat together, mindful of his body broken for us.

The Cup of the New Covenant

And then, we lift the cup, the symbol of the new covenant in his blood. It is the blood of Christ, shed at Calvary, that washes away our sins, forgives our failings, and grants us new and everlasting life. As we drink, let us remember the deepest love shown to us and the gift of forgiveness we receive. Let us drink together, celebrating the grace that binds us as one family in Christ.

Pray With Me, Family

God of mercy and grace, we thank you for the assurance that we are welcome in your presence not because of our worth, but because of Jesus. Thank you for his body, broken for us, and for his blood, poured out for the forgiveness of our sins. As we share in this communion, fill us with your strength, renew our hope, and knit us closer together as your people. Empower us to live in the light of Christ's sacrifice and resurrection until the day he returns in glory. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
